How and Why your information is collected.
The most basic data held about you is your name and Telephone number. You might also choose to provide your Email address. This is necessary in order to continue contact and facilitate the setting up of appointments and delivery of Therapy.
Furthermore, certain sensitive and personal information will be held as disclosed by yourself or your child in personal interactions such as telephone and face to face conversations. These are necessary in order to provide and deliver the best service throughout the Therapeutic relationship.
How we hold your data
All sensitive information collected during Therapeutic sessions, is held securely in hard copy form (no digital or online versions exist) to which only John Prendergast Therapy staff have access. This is done in order to prevent the loss, misuse or alteration of any information. Phone numbers are similarly held either with the hard copy client file, or separately as part of the appointment and scheduling process (only for current clients).
If you choose to send an email, these are kept on the Gmail encrypted servers which are fully compliant with regulations governing data protection.
As per insurance compliance, and liability guidelines, your data will be reviewed every 7 years and either destroyed or retained, depending on circumstances and relevant government/legal instructions.
We take your data protection seriously. All information freely given will only be used for the stated purpose and will never be utilised for any other reason or shared with any third parties for the purposes of sales or marketing. Any data used for research purposes will be fully anonymised and made untraceable to you.
Your Rights
You should ensure that the information we collect and hold in relation to you is accurate and kept up to date. If you would like to review the information we have collected on you at any time, please see contact below.
You have the right to be given a copy of the information held by us about you. We will provide the requested information to you within 30 calendar days of the receipt of a valid request in writing. We might request you to provide additional information to enable us to identify your personal data and/or to verify your identity. Please send all requests to the contact person below.
You also have the right to have the information erased if there isn’t a legitimate or legal reason for retaining same. We will accede to any such valid requests within 30 calendar days of receipt of a valid request in writing or by electronic means. Please note that due to legal requirements surrounding child protection, parents of children aged 14 and over, are not entitled to access their child’s information or request it to be erased.
Specific information about you or your child will only ever be released to comply with any valid legal inquiry or process such as a search warrant, subpoena, statute or court order.
Governing Law and Jurisdiction
This legal notice and all issues regarding this website are governed by the common law of the land being the Republic of Ireland.

Delay or failure on our part in enforcing any of our rights shall not constitute a waiver by us of our rights and remedies. If any part of this Privacy Statement is held to be invalid or unenforceable, the validity or enforceability of the remainder will not be affected.
